FMD virus can spread through contaminated vehicles, equipment, clothing, and footwear. If a dairy farm is inside a disease Control Area during an FMD outbreak, the producer will need to keep detailed records for animal, human, vehicle, and equipment traffic on and off the dairy premises. These records will help the producer answer the questions required to obtain a permit to move milk. They will also assist regulatory officials in the event they need to trace the potential spread of disease.
