The goal for the Upper Midwest Farmland Summit is to accelerate change towards systems where new farmers can more readily access affordable farmland and retiring farmers have easier and more satisfactory options for transferring their farms. The Summit will host leaders from across the nation who will share their experience and help us to develop our strategies, strengthen our networks, and explore current efforts in farmland access and transfer as well as inspire new thinking and move towards meaningful action.

Formerly the AgriGrowth Annual Meeting and Conference, this summit provides unparalleled networking and expert level speakers talking about relevant topics and trends. Attendees include leaders from across the spectrum of Minnesota’s diverse food and agricultural sector, state and federal government officials, and academia.

On Friday, November 22, Minnesota Ag in the Classroom (MAITC) brings Farm Bureau members into a metro classroom to teach students about farming, while MDA staff meet with Farm Bureau members during the Exhibitor Showcase. On Saturday, November 23, MDA Commissioner Thom Petersen joins the commissioners from the MPCA and DNR on a panel to discuss the new administration’s approach to agricultural issues.

MDA Commissioner Thom Petersen will speak about the work the department is doing throughout the state while MDA staff visit with Farmers Union members in the exhibit area.

Join our Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom (MAITC) team on their virtual field trip to Meadowlark Turkey. Meet the farm owners, Jon and Ashley, tour their farm, and ask questions live. The Facebook Live video stream will last approximately 20-30 minutes. If listeners are unable to tune in during the live event, the video will be posted on the MAITC Facebook page and YouTube for later viewing.

Come see us at the MDA booth at the MN Beef Expo. We will have materials and resources for livestock producers to use to prevent antibiotic residues and to be good stewards of antibiotics in animal agriculture.
