In 2023, the Minnesota Legislature provided funding to the MDA for grants to organizations in Minnesota to develop enterprises, supply chains, and markets for continuous-living cover crops and cropping systems in the early stages of commercial development. 

The first of two Requests for Proposals (RFP) for this competitive grant opened Monday, September 11, 2023 and closed October 2, 2023. A summary of selected project is included in the table below.

La misión del Centro para el Desarrollo Económico Latino (LEDC, por sus siglas en inglés) es ayudar a los empresarios y emprendedores latinos en Minnesota a desarrollar sus negocios y crecer. Como organización creada por latinos, para latinos, LEDC ofrece clases, talleres, asistencia personalizada, servicios de asistencia agrícola, una incubadora de restaurantes y préstamos en su función como una Institución Financiera de Desarrollo Comunitario (CDFI, por sus siglas en inglés). LEDC trabaja a menudo con agricultores y otras empresas vinculadas a la industria alimentaria y agrícola y, a través de su asistencia técnica, ayudará al programa RFSI a beneficiar a la comunidad latina en Minnesota.

La asistencia incluye:

  • Servicios y capacitaciones ofrecidos en español para ayudar a los agricultores, empresas alimentarias y organizaciones latinas a acceder al programa RFSI.
  • Consultoría en desarrollo de negocios alimentarios y agrícolas, como planificación comercial y financiera, concienciación legal y regulatoria, asistencia de marketing, soporte de mantenimiento de registros y planificación de sucesión.
  • Coordinación de la cadena de valor y apoyo al acceso a los mercados.
  • Asistencia en redacción y administración de subvenciones relacionadas tanto a RFSI como a otros programas de subvenciones.
  • Acceso a otras fuentes de capital a través de capacitación en educación financiera, asistencia con paquetes de préstamos y préstamos directos en su condición como CDFI.
  • Oportunidades de establecimiento de contactos y de intercambio personalizado para empresarios latinos en el gremio de alimentos y agricultura y otras entes interesadas de la cadena de valor.
  • Referencias a otros proveedores de servicios y asistencia técnica con la experiencia adecuada.
