Traditional business-to-business (B2B) tradeshows are showcases for manufacturers to display their products to wholesale buyers. Manufacturers and brand owners contract to rent a booth space at an event so they can pitch their products to buyers in-person.
Virtual tradeshows are online events that include 1:1 meetings between manufacturers and wholesale buyers that are arranged in advance by an event organization, trade association, or distributor.
Events that include general “consumer” attendance or admission do not qualify as tradeshows.

In 2022, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture received $4.23 million from the USDA’s Local Food for School (LFS) Cooperative Agreement Program. We subawarded this LFS funding to 114 schools and school districts in 2023 through the AGRI Farm to School and Early Care Grant Program.
Highlights from LFS in Minnesota:
- Schools purchased food from 501 Minnesota farmers and food producers, including 439 small businesses and 157 socially disadvantaged producers.
- Majority (63%) of local food was purchased directly from producers. Schools also purchased food through food hubs (13%) and wholesale distributors (24%).
- Beef and apples were the most common items purchased.
- Every LFS dollar spent on Minnesota-grown and -raised food generated an additional $0.94 in economic activity in the state of Minnesota.
