2025 TESTING ANNOUNCEMENT:

The MDA office in St. Paul has discontinued testing. The MDA has partnered with more than 65 testing locations throughout the state; including 10 Metro Institute locations within the twin cities area.

Metro Institute:

To schedule an exam with Metro Institute, an application or the renewal form for the current year with corresponding payment and required documents must be submitted to the MDA.

Please allow 4 business days after making the online payment before scheduling a testing appointment with Metro Institute. During this time, the MDA will review the applicator information to ensure eligibility for licensure. 

Online registration can be done at the Metro Institute Inc. website using the individual Testing ID. This information is not automatically emailed to the payor, please print a copy for your records when making the payment online. There is a $60 per exam fee for testing services with Metro Institute. This will be paid during the online registration prior to the test appointment.

SPCA applicators that wish to take the Master exam must email pesticide.testing@state.mn.us to be approved for testing.

Only locations that offer computerized testing can administer the SPCA - Journeyman, SPCA - Master, Noncommercial category M, Noncommercial category S exams.

All locations require an appointment for testing services.
