Each year Minnesota farmers that grow corn, soybeans, wheat or hay are asked to complete a pesticide and fertilizer use survey. The MDA conducts the annual surveys in partnership with the National Agriculture Statistics Service (NASS) out of the NASS regional offices in Missouri.

This phone survey is completely voluntary and no questions seeking personal information are asked. Surveys for statewide pesticide use began in 2005 and they were expanded to include fertilizers in 2009. The data helps us track the use of agricultural chemicals on Minnesota farms.
