Are you an irrigator concerned about matching your irrigation with crop water use? Are you interested in seeing new technology and sprinkler packages in-person? The University of Minnesota Extension is hosting a field day to accompany the Minnesota Irrigator Program (MIP), designed to help answer these questions and demonstrate in-field methods to gauge soil water content and maintain irrigation efficiency.

Topics include:

  • An update on variable rate irrigation research
  • Soil moisture sensors and the effect of soil texture on irrigation management
  • Sprinkler packages
  • Overall irrigation systems

This evening event will be held in-person at Grant Anderson’s variable rate irrigation field in Belgrade, Minnesota. Dinner will be provided, and registration is free!

Location

The field site is west of the town of Belgrade. Continue west on Hwy 55 through Belgrade and turn right onto county road 13 about 1 mile from town. The location is included on this Google Maps.

Minnesota Irrigator Program

In addition to learning about the most effective irrigation management, this field day is a continuation of the Minnesota Irrigator Program that was hosted by University of Minnesota Extension in March. The MIP is one of the requirements to attain the Irrigation Endorsement of the Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program.
