The Biofertilizer Innovation and Efficiency Pilot Program provides incentive payments to farmers reducing the application rate of commercial nitrogen fertilizer when using a qualifying biofertilizer product and innovative technologies into their crop nutrient management. Applications are reviewed on an on-going basis, as received. Eligibility is verified by MDA staff. All eligibility requirements and acceptable biofertilizer products are listed on the program website.
Applicants with a successful application will receive a notice by email that their application is approved and will be sent a grant contract agreement to sign. The grant contract agreement will address the conditions of the award and ask you to certify your eligibility for the program. Samples of the MDA contract terms and additional information can be viewed at the State of Minnesota’s Office of Grants Management.
Applicants will receive notice that their application is successful and must sign the grant contract agreement within 30 days of receiving the contract.
Examples of applicants include but are not limited to principal farm operators, small businesses, companies or corporations operating crop land.
Please note, the name of operator or entity applying to the program (the name or entity listed on the form below) must be the same throughout this application, enrollment, contract signature, and payment process for the program.
