On November 4th 2008, Minnesota voters approved the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment to the state constitution. The Amendment increases the sales and use tax rate by three-eighths of one percent, starting July 1, 2009 and continuing through 2034. Amendment dollars are dedicated to four separate funds, one of which is the Clean Water Fund.
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) receives $13.67 million from the Clean Water Fund in 2016-2017. The MDA is using Clean Water Fund dollars to support a variety of programs, projects and activities.
