The Minnesota Department of Agriculture estimates that the rulemaking process will take three years and the Nitrogen Fertilizer Rule (Rule) will go into effect in 2018. The timeline below highlights the opportunity for public participation in the process. The full rulemaking process includes review by the governor and other administrative state agencies. These steps are included in a detailed timeline.
The current public comment period is June 7 - August 25, 2017. After reading the Rule, take a look at frequently asked questions.
