Tornado Recovery Information for Agricultural & Food Businesses

After the storm, MDA helps farmers, ranchers and food and agricultural businesses (grocery stores, food processors, warehouses, etc.) with recovery steps that include verifying the safety of stored food products and agricultural chemicals, testing of water supplies for potential contamination, and responding to any contamination related to release of agricultural chemicals into the environment.  We help evaluate damaged agricultural facilities and equipment and provide guidance for repairs and new installations in order to re-open a food establishment.  We also help businesses access federal and state assistance, as well as, through the Farm Advocate and Minnesota Farmer Assistance Network (MFAN) programs, which offers counseling and service referrals for those suffering a loss.
