The MFO Project Team provides industry development support for Minnesota agricultural enterprises through the coordination of services and financial support for research and development priorities identified by industry stakeholders. The MFO Project Development 2000 initiative targets support for the following business opportunities.
Organic Spring Wheat Weed Control Research
The MFO Project Team is supporting the efforts of the Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers to identify and develop cultural practices for weed control in organically grown hard red spring wheat.
Christmas Tree Variety Trials
The MFO Project Team is supporting the work of the Minnesota Christmas Tree Growers Association in evaluating the production potential and marketing opportunities for new and exotic species of Christmas trees.
Information Network for Organic Producers
The MFO Project Team is supporting work at the Southwest Research and Outreach Center of the University of Minnesota to enhance information-exchange on organic production systems and networking between organic producers statewide. See the project web site at http://mofie.cfans.umn.edu/.
Market Analysis for Herbal Products
The MFO Project Team is supporting the efforts of the Medicinal Herb Network, a consortium of Minnesota herb producers and practitioners of herbal medicine, by identifying the top ten selling selling herbs, nationally, and developing an estimate of market volume, structure, and marketing channels for herbal products.
