Christmas tree growers operate in a highly competitive field. A successful grower must keep informed as new herbicides appear on the market. New control measures must be learned to keep pace with insect and disease problems. In addition, there are ever-changing business practices and regulations affecting the industry. The artificial tree has presented a new form of competition that the grower cannot ignore. Unquestionably, the successful Christmas tree grower must combine managerial skills with a high degree of competency in the economic and business fields, and also in several branches of biology.
