Turfgrass Best Management Practices

Turfgrass Pesticide BMPs

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) announces the adoption of best management practices for turfgrass pesticides. The MDA and the University of Minnesota have developed a set of core voluntary BMPs related to turfgrass pesticides. The purpose of these BMPs is to protect water resources, humans, and non-target organisms including pollinators. The BMPs were finalized based on comments received during a public comment period in the summer of 2017.

Turfgrass Fertilizer BMPs

The MDA is currently finalizing the BMPs for nitrogen and phosphorus turfgrass fertilizers based on comments received on a draft posted July 31, 2017. A State Register notice will be made when the BMPs for nitrogen and phosphorus turfgrass fertilizers are finalized and adopted.
