Draft best management practices (BMPs) for fertilizer and pesticide use on turfgrass are now available for public review and comment. The draft practices were developed by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the University of Minnesota to protect water resources and to protect humans and non-target organisms including pollinators. Please review and share comments specific to practice content, format and ways to share the practices with primary audiences. The public comment period ends September 29, 2017.
The draft BMPs documents listed below are the foundational documents for fertilizer and pesticide use on golf courses and for lawn care. In the coming months, two separate short guidance documents on fertilizer and pesticide use for lawn care will be used for outreach with homeowners. These documents will be based on the finalized best management practices.
