Best management practices (BMPs) are practices that are capable of protecting the environment while considering economic factors, availability, technical feasibility, ability to implement, and effectiveness.
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is responsible for the development, promotion and evaluation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) for pesticide use, and provides information on best management practices related to environmental protection.
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture recently held a public comment period on the draft best management practices (BMPs) for fertilizer and pesticide use on turfgrass. Based on the comments received, MDA has adopted BMPs for turgrass pesticide. Comments for the turfgrass fertilizer BMPs are currently under review and the final turfgrass fertilizer BMPs will be posted once completed.
