Minnesota Emerald Ash Borer Response Plan – (PDF: 530 KB / 23 pages) The purpose of the EAB Response Plan is to aid efficient communication and coordination among responding groups in the event of an EAB detection in Minnesota. The plan contains action steps to be taken by responding agencies and establishes criteria for choosing and carrying out those actions. The Response Plan is a dynamic document and as such changes over time in response to new information about EAB biology and management - the most current Response Plan will always be posted here.
Emerald Ash Borer Mock Response Exercise (PDF: 10 MB / 48 pages) The purpose of the EAB Response Exercise was to test the Minnesota EAB Response Plan given a scenario in which EAB has been detected in Minnesota. All events described in this document leading to the EAB Response Exercise are fictional. No emerald ash borer has been detected in Minnesota as of the date of this exercise. No emerald ash borer were found during the course of the Response Exercise. All positive emerald ash borer finds described in this document are fictional.
Minnesota Emerald Ash Borer Readiness Plan (PDF: 115 KB / 22 pages) The Readiness Plan has been prepared by the EAB Readiness Team to guide actions aimed at minimizing the impact of EAB in Minnesota. To accomplish this, the plan outlines four primary objectives:
- Delay the introduction and establishment of EAB in Minnesota.
- Identify and prepare outreach, education and training.
- Provide the basis for long-term forest sustainability.
- Develop political support to ensure adequate funding and regulation.
Many of the actions identified in the Readiness Plan are already in motion and the plan helps to organize those efforts to a common purpose. The Readiness Plan is a living document that changes as circumstances change - the most recent draft will always be posted here.
Preparing for Emerald Ash Borer in Minnesota (PDF: 51 KB / 6 pages) The Minnesota Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Science Advisory Group (sub-group of Minnesota EAB Readiness Team) has prepared a set of science-based recommendations to help land owners and managers make decisions about what actions may be warranted or unwarranted in preparation for the arrival of EAB in Minnesota. The document includes recommendations and discussion on ash planting, removal and insecticidal treatment.
Strategies for managing emerald ash borer introductions within Minnesota
The Minnesota EAB Science Advisory Group has outlined options for responding to new EAB infestations discovered in Minnesota and the likely impact on the spread of EAB throughout Minnesota. The options considered include a "do nothing" approach, eradication, and management.
