Minnesota commodity councils seek candidates to fill board vacancies

Four councils will elect board members in March

St. Paul, Minn. – Four Minnesota commodity research and promotion councils are seeking candidates to fill vacant positions on their boards.  The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) will conduct mail ballot elections for the Barley, Beef, Corn and Soybean Councils in March.

Interested candidates should contact their respective councils by the February 7, 2011 registration deadline.  These farmer/leaders will serve three-year terms directing the investment of their research and promotion council’s check-off programs.

Farmers who voted last year will receive ballots by mail, but those who did not can request a ballot from the above commodity council offices by February 7, 2011.
