Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner comments on death of Wisconsin Agriculture Secretary Rod Nilsestuen
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson today issued the following statement upon learning of the death of Rod Nilsestuen, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection:
“Our deepest sympathies go out to Rod’s family. I had the opportunity to work with Rod on many issues over the years and found him to be an excellent advocate for farm families. He had a friendly and effective style that made it easy to work with him. He will be missed not only as a colleague but as a friend.”
Commissioner Hugoson had worked with Nilsestuen frequently over the years on issues such as dairy policy and invasive species control. The two also worked together to represent the interests of Midwest farmers through the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture.
