This program is delegated by the State of Minnesota to provide educational and regulatory oversight for ag-lime materials distributed in Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is the lead state agency delegated to provide this duty. The educational component is performed in cooperation with the Minnesota Extension Service, and seeks to inform both consumers and regulated clientele of the proper use and quality ratings of ag-lime materials. Regulatory oversight relates to licensing, sampling/analysis, labeling, tonnage reporting, etc. The objective of this oversight is to consumer awareness/protection through identification of distributors/producers/ag-lime products and corresponding quality rating (pounds Effective Neutralizing Power per ton) of each ag-lime product to consumers via the label.
