Advanced biofuel must meet the definition of the national Renewable Fuel Standard Program, which states the renewable fuel, other than ethanol made from cornstarch, must improve greenhouse gas emissions over the petroleum-based fuel it replaces by at least 50%.

Note: An entity that holds controlling interest in more than one advanced biofuel production facility is considered a single eligible producer.
Note: Total payments to all producers are limited by statute to the equivalent of 17,100,000 MMBtu of advanced biofuel. Awards will be made on a first come, first served basis within the limits of available funding.
