MDA to present customer research at Minnesota Farmers’ Market Association Conference
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Farmers market managers and vendors from across Minnesota will be the first to hear the results of customer research conducted by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Minnesota Grown Program. The new research will be presented at the Minnesota Farmers’ Market Association’s Spring Conference on March 21 in Waite Park.
During the summer of 2012, the Minnesota Grown Program conducted a customer survey at fifty-seven farmers markets throughout the state. More than 1,100 customers participated in the survey and were asked questions such as “How did you hear about this market?” or “How often do you shop at this market?”
Minnesota Grown Program Coordinator Paul Hugunin says the market research collected by the survey will help growers better understand which services and products are most important to their customers.
“Learning more about their customers – such as how they use social media or how far they traveled to get to the market - will help market managers target their marketing resources,” said Hugunin.

MFMA’s Spring Conference will be held Thursday, March 21, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the American Legion in Waite Park and is open to the public.
