Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson appointed Jim Boerboom as Deputy Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture in July 2007.
Along with overseeing day-to-day operations, Mr. Boerboom supervises the agency’s Finance and Budget, Human Resources, Information Technology and Laboratory Services divisions. Mr. Boerboom's career has been dedicated to agriculture with a focus on helping farmers successfully adapt to change through innovative marketing practices and sound financial planning. He has held several positions at MDA, including: - Assistant Commissioner, 1999-2007
- MDA Agricultural Finance Division Director, 1995-1999
- Executive Director, Rural Finance Authority, 1995-1999
Mr. Boerboom also served as a State Representative from southwestern Minnesota from 1985-1986 and as Vice President for Valley Bank from 1990-1995. Mr. Boerboom holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Agriculture Education from the University of Minnesota. He and his family reside in Waseca. |
